Assuming that all the four valency of carbon atom in propane pointing towards the corners of a regular tetrahedron. Calculate the distance between the terminal carbon atoms in propane, given C-C single bond length is 1.54 Å.

Dear Student,
The bond plot for propane is 112degrees. The three C molecules are vertices of a triangle. At that point the other two edges will be 34degree each. Utilizing sine law, 34/1.54=112/x (where x is the separation between the two outrageous carbons); Therefore x=5.0729armstrong.

Cheers!!
