Bidentate ligands have two donor atoms which allow them to bind to a central metal atom or ion at two points. Common examples of bidentate ligands are ethylenediamine (en), and the oxalate ion (ox).
Pi-acidic ligands are ligands that have a relatively low-lying LUMO that has the appropriate symmetry to interact with a d-orbtal on the metal centre and the resultant molecular orbital formed will have pi-symmetry
