Carbon Occurrence:- Carbon occurs free as well as in the combined state. It occurs ree in crystalline form as diamond, graphite, and in the amorphous form as coal. It is present in all living organisms (plants and animals) in the combined state in the form of proteins, carbohydrates, fats etc. it is presents as hydrocarbons in natural gas and petroleum. It occurs as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide in atmosphere. It occurs in the form of carbonates such as lime stone, CaCO3, magnesite, MgCO3, calamine, ZnCO3, dolomite, MgCO3.CaCO3, siderite, FeSO3, cerussite, PbCO3, etc. in form of minerals.
