Applications of d and f – block elements
1) Iron and steel are used in construction and food industry. Chrome steel, Manganese steel, Tungsten steel are used for variety of purposes.
2) CrO2 is used in magnetic tapes
3) Ni is used in hydrogenation.
4) W is used in making electrical filaments.
5) Ni, Cd and Zn are used in cells.
6) Nb alloys are used in jet engines.
7) Tantalum is used in making analytical weights.
8) AgBr is used in photography.
9) Cu, Ag, Au are coinage metals, they are used in making coins.
10) Pt is used as catalyst in manufacture of HNO3.
