once you cross 20 elements,u go to the d-block...

the d-block elements are charecterised by 'VARIABLE VALENCY'

and have many valencies.......

eg..Mn (Z=25) has +1 to +7 valency

so u need to have clear understanding of the electronic configuration

stabilty due to 1.noble gas elec config

2.half filled orbitals and others

so it is better you grab a inorganic chemistry book and learn these things up.....

It's quite simple

Valency is defined as the no. of electrons in outermost sheel

to know the valency just write the electronic configuration.

if valence electron>4

valency=8-valence electron

else

valency=no. of electrons in outermost shell
