What is meant by All India quota,Home State & Other State quota?? Detailed information please

All NIT’s have 50% seats reserved for home state candidates. And in the remaining 50% any state students can get seat(including home state).
There is no separate rank list prepared for state wise ranking( it was done earlier during AIEEE).
So among those students who have applied for a particular course at a certain NIT. Suppose it isCSE at NIT Durgapur. So if there are 100 in seats in CSE at NIT Durgapur, first 50 seats will be filled by candidates of West Bengal and then according to rank list rest of the 50 seats will be filled.
