Hello Student,
we are finding the centre.
At that points the net field will be along that line(try it).
let k be mass per unit length
Now
dF=GkRcosthetadtheta/R^2
=>F=Gk/R(2sin theta) where theta is angle subtended by half of arc at center(please try to visualize).
