The most simple way to explain this question would be to look at the acceleration for each second. In the first second it would go from 0 to 10 m/s velocity giving and average velocity of 5m/s. This means it would fall 5 meters in the first second. In the second second, average velocity would be 15 m/s and it would have fallen a total of 20 meters. The third second it would have fallen at an average velocity of 25 m/s for 1 second to give a distance of 25 meters and a total drop of 45 meters.
