let x= sqrt(3+sqrt5)
so x*sqrt2= sqrt(3+sqrt5)*sqrt2
= sqrt[(3+sqrt5)*2]= sqrt(6+2sqrt5)
but 6+2sqrt5= (1+sqrt5)^2
so sqrt(6+2sqrt5)= 1+sqrt5
so, x*sqrt2= 1+sqrt5
or x= 1/sqrt2 + sqrt5/sqrt2
or x= sqrt(1/2) + sqrt(5/2)
