This problem is similar to spring block system and you can solve in that way as follows: 
In those problems we would find K-spring const and write the time period as T=2pi(m/k)½  
similarly the expression for stress&strain is F=YAe/L  here e=elongation 
as we know in spring block system F=Kx  x=elongation  
compare both equations we find that K=YA/L
therefore the Time Period is T=2pi(mL/AY)1/2   
AND ANOTHER METHOD IS Write the  force equation in equilibrium condition 
Then write it when it is given an elongation x and substitute the above equation and now we get the same expression 
and use the spring const and proceed as in the above manner.
