or cos^2(y-z)+2absin(y-z)= sin(y-z)sin(2t-(y+z))+1
but 2sin(y-z)sin(2t-(y+z))= cos2(t-y) – cos2(t-z)= 2cos^2(t-y) –1 – (1 – 2sin^2(t-z))= 2a^2-2+2b^2
or sin(y-z)sin(2t-(y+z))= a^2-1+b^2
therefore cos^2(y-z)+2absin(y-z)= sin(y-z)sin(2t-(y+z))+1= a^2-1+b^2+1
=a^2+b^2
