Least count, L.C. = [N - (N-1)]/N • MSD
L.C. = (1/N)× [One Main Scale division value]
 
e.g: 9th division of VS coincides with 10th division of the main scale and one main scale division is of 2mm. Then,
 
L.C. = (1/10)×2mm
        = 0.2 mm
