In a bag there are 5 red balls, 3 white balls and 4 black balls. Four balls are drawn from the bag. Find the number of ways of in which at most 3 red balls are selected. -> I would like to know should we assume 5 red ball are identical or different? As this is not explicitly specified in this question. Please suggest.

Dear student
If it is not specified , you should assume it as identical ball.

Thanks you sir.
This question appeared in this year JEE mains(8th JAn morning shift).
If we assume all 5 red balls are identical. Likewise all 3 white balls are identical and so for black ball.
Answer should be = 12.
However, if we dont assume balls to be identical, answer would be 490. Which is given as correct answer as per JEE mains site answer key.

I am confused should I challenge this question. Please suggest.
