IITJEE(Advanced 2015) : Reduction in cut off to 24.5% cannot be made midway after declaring in the brochure at 35%. This prejudices thousands of students who scored between 24.5% and 29% in IITJEEMains. IITs feel that a reserved category students can get 12.25% in advanced from -7% in mains, but a general category students cannot get 24.5% in advanced from a 29% in Mains ? This is illegal. In all the categories except General category (and nominally in SC category), the qualifying cut off marks for the IITJEE(Advanced) is higher than that of precursor IITJEE(Mains) examination. But in the case of General category this is reduced from 29% to 24.5%. The IITs feel that students of all the categories, except General Category, will perform better in JEE (Advanced) Examination as Compare to JEE (Mains) examination, which is baseless and hopelessly untrue. How can it be stated that a General category student who has scored 28.9 % in JEE(Mains) (not qualified for JEE Advanced) would not have score 24.5 % marks in the JEE Advanced if opportunity granted to him, while a person of other category who scored 19% would score 22.5% or a person who scored -5% would score 12.25% ? This reduction in marks is a clear cut prejudice to at least those General category students who scored between 24.5 % to 29% in JEE (Mains) and number of such students are likely to be in thousands and available with IIT examination council. It is irrational, illogical and against natural justice even to suggest that a general category student cannot increase his marks in the IITJEE(Advanced) as compare to IITJEE(mains) but other category students can increase their marks by a whopping 19% (-7% to 12.25%). On this score alone the entire IITJEE(Advanced) must be scrapped and re-taken based on some sound justifiable eligibility criterion.

lol.......
ur argument is purely illogical
the first crack in ur logic is comparing mains with advanced
acording to brocher cutoff must be 35% that may b ri8 but wn iit exam is conducted they 1st c that 10006 students get qulified  and next they c to quilify 15000 students
according to previous cutoff 177 not more than 10006 students are quilified so iits had to reduce the cutoffs to 124
dont compair 29% of mains to 24.5% of advanced  their is a lot of difference between them
their are 75000 ppl who scored above 29% in mains but only 16000 have scored  more than 24.5 in advanced
wn u talk abt a person who didnt qulify in mains could quilify in advanced then do u say that other 59000 ppl are fools coz they could score 29% in mains and couldnt score 24.5% in advanced

iit dont decide cutoffs by their feelings(abstract things) they decide the cutoffs by perfomance of students
so the result (reduction in cutoffs) is because students didnt perfom

so plz dont posts such stupid agruments in the fourm
if ur in a frustration that u havent quilified in mains or advanced then join some other instutes or drop an year if u r much ambisous

No, argument is not illogical. The trend of cut off in mains vs advanced must be in one direction for all categories.... If a SC-PWD student can be expected to get 12.5% from -7%, then why a general category student cannot get 24.5% in advanced from a just 29% in mains.........

If you see the revised cut off of advanced for all the categories, you will see the problem...Irrespective of the standard difference between Mains and Advanced, the prejudice is caused to those who scored at least between 24.5% to 29% in Mains.  If IITs were not getting sufficient numbers of students, then the only choice was re-examn...

stop comparing mains and advanced now
both can never be compared
they huv got a lot of difference in their standard
i told u b4 and i am saying u now cutoffs are not decided on feelings or expectations they are decided by the perfomance of students and the reduction in cutoffs is due to poor perfomance

now i think u will never undusand wt i am saying
if have to so study bsc stitatics n study all graphs about iit reesults

nw plz stop this rubbish argument with stupid logic here and if u wanna aargue more post it in quora.com
or send me req on fb with genune name

You fail to get the point....Although both the exams are different but they are not like aptitude test and then Main exam, like that in civil services.

Both JEEMains and JEEadvanced are based on almost the same syllabus, difficulty level may be different.

Now expecting that a General Category student cannot score more than 24.5% after securing 29% in Mains, but a reserved category student can score 12.5% in after securing -7% in Mains, is ridiculous and illegal...

It is a clear cut deprivation of opportunity to at least those General Category students who score between 24.5% – 29% in IITMains...
