The confusion begins in case of improvement. If you've applied for improvement in one or more subjects, the final result will show the marks in which your performance has been higher, else the previous marks will hold.
For example:
S1 = 80
S2 = 70
S3 = 72
in the original mark list, and you apply for improvement in S2 and S3, obtaining 75 and 70 respectively. The final marklist will show
S1 = 80
S2 = 75*
S3 = 72
Where * means obtained under improvement attempt.
