dear kabir 
kindly go through the properties of determinant once , and after that u will understand autometically , also ncert have enough example with this splitting . 
i am giving u example . 
suppose u have the given determinant and it have 8 in 1st row and 1st column it have number 8 . 
so, u need to split that as 4 in one determinant with same row and same column, and 2 in the other determinant with same row and column . 
and if it will be 6, then u can split it as 3 in one det , and 2 in other det . 
but u need to be carefull on row and column ,that must have to be same .
