Dear Student ,
Here , in this case the angular speed of the disc is ω which is freely rotating on a smooth horizontal plane .It is hooked at a rigid peg about P without bouncing when the disc collides with the peg then after collision , let the angular speed be ω' .
Now the whole case takes time = t and here the change in angular speed in time t is angular acceleration α .
Now angular speed after collision will be ,
ω'=(ω+αt )+atrNow this change in angular acceleration is due to sum of rotational motion and translational motion of the peg.Here ω+αt =is due to the rotational motion and atr =is due to the linear translational motion where r is the radius of the disc.
