Grade 10IIT JEE Entrance Exam

Dear Respected Sir/Madam,
I am studying in Class 10 currently and i would like to appear in the IIT JEE entrance test in 2017 but my only doubt is that i am an NRI and recently in the news they said that NRIs were not eligible for IITs.So I just wanted to clarify if i can write the test or should i appear for SAT.
