iit selects the student on the besis of jee advanced ranks , frst of all u need to attempt jee main exam , then if u qualified that u have to appear for jee advanced exam . 
and in jee advanced , they will choose 24,000 candidate to qualify the exam , as the seats are 10,000 only . 
so, after that u need to enter the JOsaa coiunceelling . 
u have to register their and fill your choice acc to your preference . 
after that frst round will start , in frst round , they will try to alott college of your choice , if not possible they will keep you to the 2nd round . 
and then 2nd round will start , and if u have a little bit chance they will put you on FLOAT catagory , and after that , most of the seats are filled by iit , and if some left , then they will do on spot councelling .
