Madhukar Thalore AS per my observation on the net and newspaper, The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT is said to have agreed to the IIT JEE exam schedule for the year 2013. Details:The engineering aspirants will have to take two tests in order to qualify : Main and Advanced . The IIT Mains exam will be conducted by the CBSE with representation from the IITs and the Centrally Funded Institutes. Subsequently candidates who clear the exam and also fulfil the criteria of belonging to the top 20% of class 12 students will be eligible to write the IIT Advanced. The Advanced exam will be conducted by the The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT headed by Prof. HC Gupta of IIT, Delhi and the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) while the logistics will provided by the CBSE. As against the usual 6 laks aspirants sans no format, the Advanced exam will be for 1.5 lakh students only in 2013 after screening via the IIT Mains. Exam Pattern: While the Main will be objective in nature, the Advanced will follow the same pattern followed in 2012 with two shifts and a mix of subjective, objective questions to be answered in three hours. Exam Schedule: Mains: April 7, 2013 Advanced: June 3, 2013 Selection: Only students who have appeared for the Advanced JEE can apply for admission to the IITs, IT BHU, ISM Dhanbad provided they fulfil the deemed criteria. Students who donot get admssions into the IITs are eligible to apply for admission to the NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Institutes (CFTIs). States may consider the scores of these exams for admission into engineering courses in their institutes. Deemed Universities who have approved of the format in principle will also consider these scores for admission. Published On: 28-Aug-2012
