The outside of a glass of water gets wet because the air directly around the glass cools down, causing some of the water vapour in the air to condense into liquid. The leaf is covered in a rough surface of waxy projections, which causes water to form beads and slide off.

Angle of contact is acute in the surface of the glass and on the lotus leaf angle of contact is obtuse.

Glass surface is having less angle of contact whereas lotus leaf has more angle of contact. Hence glass surface is water wetting agent whereas lotus leaf is water proofing agent
