Why does the magnitude of an object increase due to gravity when it falls down and why does it decrease when it going vertically upwards? Shouldn’t it be vice-versa? Since the magnitude of an object increases while falling down due to gravity shouldn’t that be taken as a special case and shouldn’t the magnitude be positive while it falls and negative when it slows down moving vertically upward?

whn we go from up to down ,gravity increases and so the weight of the object increases when it falls down.when we go vertically upward gravity decreases,so the weight of the object decreses b. weight of the object is equal to mass multiplied by gravity.
Thanks & regards
