Why does a metallic piece become very hot when it is surrounded by a coil carrying high frequency alternating current?

When a piece of metal piece is surrounded by high frequency alternating voltages, a large number of eddy currents are generated on its surface. Due to eddy currents the power is dissipated by the metallic piece that increases its temperature.
