What is the relation between real magnification and linear magnification?

Magnificationis the process of enlarging something only in appearance, not in physical size. This enlargement is quantified by a calculated number also called "magnification".
Linearortransverse magnification— Forreal images, such as images projected on a screen,sizemeans a linear dimension (measured, for example, in millimeters orinches) .

If you make an image of an object the linear magnification is just the size of the image/size of the object.
There is another way of giving magnification called angular magnification. Usually this is used for telescopes.
