The word concave means curving in or hollowed inward, as opposed to convex. The former may be used in reference to: Concave lens, a lens with inward-curving (concave) surfaces. Concave polygon, a polygon which is not convex. Concave function, a type of function which is related to convex functions.

A concave mirror is a part of a sphere whose surface is bulged in(inward curve) and another side of surface is polished so that light cannot pass threw it and get reflected back into the same medium,on the other hand in case of convex mirror its surface is bulged out and all other things are same as mentioned above.
