Banking of a Road Surface. The normal reaction, R, has no component acting towards the centre of the circular path. Therefore the required centripetal acceleration is provided by the force of friction, Ff, between the wheel and the road. Banking of roads is done because when a curve road is came if we have going in speed we will meat an accident

The phenomenon of raising outer edge of the curved road above the inner edge is to provide necessary centripetal force to the vehicles to take a safe ride.it is used to prevent skidding of vehicles.
