What is average deviation?Explain it with its formula and an example.

The average deviation is defined as the mean of these absolute values.
To calculate the 
average deviation of a set of scores it is first necessary to compute their mean and then specify the distance between each score and that mean without regard to whether the score is above or below the mean.
the average deviation and mean deviation are the relative terms , 
just diff is in avg deviation u are taking an average of mean , 
EXAMPLE – suppose a 10 ml pipette delivers 9.99 , 10.01 , 9.97 and 10.08 ml in an exp. we have to calculate its average deviation from the mean . 
sol – here the mean value is avg . so, just add them up and divide it by 4 . 
like here 
9.99 – average , 10.01- average ,, 9,97-avergae ,,, 10.08-average etc .. 
neglect the -ve sign and then add them all . u will get avg deviation .
