a vector is a physical quantity which have direction as well as magnitude both . 
a unit vector is a special kind of vector which has a unit magnitude and its size equal to unity . but has a perticular direction . 
example – icap , jcap, kcap , are the unit vectors in x,y,z direction respectivly .
