Dear student

if we dip a convex lens in water, its focal length increses.
also for concave lens its focal length increases.

focal length
1/f = ((nl/ns) -1) (1/R1 - 1/R2)
nl = refractive index of lens
ns = refractive index of surrounding medium
So as ns increase 1/f decreaase
and focal length f increase.
Hope it clears.
