A good clock should give standard time. It should not change its standardization with factors such as temperature, physical dimensions. Any time standard should answer the fact that at what time any event occurs and how long the events last. Any good clocks should correctly with go with some astronomical observation like the time taken by the rotation of the earth around the Sun.
