what are impulsive forces

Impulsive force is the enormous amount of force acting for a very small time on a body. For e.g. when batsman hits the ball, the period of contact is very less but force is huge, the friction cannot be impulsive force because friction acts for longer time to restrict the motion of the body, neither tension in the string.
