The current through both the resistors remain the same and equals the total current in the circuit as in a series combination, only potential is distributed, current reamins as it is.

to get minimum current they should be connected in series . to get maximum current they should be connected in parallel

As in series combination the current flowing is constant so the current flowing through both the resistors will be same .
