Two parallel plates (of plate area A) of an isolated parallel plate capacitor carry charges -3Q and +5Q respectively. Separation between the plates is d. What is the value of potential difference between the plates of capacitor? And if the separation between the plates is doubled,what will be the effect on charge & potential difference?

Dear student,

When the plate of a capacitor is given some charge, equal and opposite charge is induced on the other plate. Use this logic to calculate the electric field between the plates and then divide it by distance to get the potential difference.
