Forces are vector quantities as they have magnitude and direction. Vectors are added head to tail. To add to vectors one vector is drawn with its tail attached to the head of the other and the sum of the two is the line drawn with its tail at the tail of the first vector and head at the head of the second vector.

The angle made by the resultant is given by tan^-1 (F/F) = 45 degrees
