Three forces of magnitude 3N,√5N, 2N are acting at A are directed along AB, AC, AD regular A(-2,2), B(2,2), C(2,4), D(-2,4). If the displacement of the particle at A is 4i^ m find the net work done by the forces.

Let the distance of the various point be in metre(m).
By joining all 4 points together, the figure come out to be the rectangle with vertices A, B, C and D.
Distance(AB) = 4m
Distance(AD) = 2m
All the forces are directed on point A.
By using trigonometry, the angle made by AC with positive direction of x-axis is come out to be  27 degree.
By doing vector addition of all the three forces acting on the point A, the resultant force is come out to be;
Magnitude(F) = 5.844N and direction(Φ) = 210.9° with +ve direction of x axis.
Displacement(S) = 4m
work done is given by;
                       W = FS(cosΦ)
                       W = 5.844N*4m(-0.8580)
                       W = -20.06 j
