Dear Deepak

In a bar magnet the poles of the magnet are situated a little distance inside the ends of the magnet. The distance between these two poles (north and south) is known as magnetic length. The actual length or the size of the magnet is called the geometric length. And therefore magnetic length is obviously slightly lesser than the geometric length.

Magnetic length = (5/6) geometric length
