Dear student
Refraction. If you shine a beam of light (a bundle of parallel rays) through the air, it will travel in a straight line. Rays of light usually travel in straight lines until they hit something.

Light always travels along the geodesics of spacetime. In flat spacetime (far from any masses) geodesics are straight lines; in curved spacetime (near large masses) they may appear curved when viewed from other frames.
