The motion of copper plate is damped when it is allowed to oscillate between the two poles of a magnet. What is the cause of this damping?

when cu plate is kept b/w two pole it oscilate and thus change in magnetic flux and it produce a strong eddy current which oppose the cause . so it get magnetised in the opposite direction .so the plate get damped
