Suppose a cubic block of side `a` Young`s modulus `Y` , undergoes elastic collision with a steel wall. The velocity of the block is `u` before collision.Find the maximum potential energy stored in the block during collision.

From the work energy theorem,
Wnet = Change in kinetic energy,
0.5*Y*(F*a/Y*a^2Y) + Welastic. = 0 – 0.5mu^2
Welastic = – 0.5mu^2  – F^2/2a^2Y
