mue (u) = sin i/ sin r= n2/n1, where; i is the incident angle from rarer to denser medium. r is refracting angle or angle of refraction made in denser medium. if you prefer the textbook , you can see this. n2 is refractive index of denser and n1 is of rarer medium. mue(u) is relative refractive index of 1 with respect to 2
