Hi,

In this question, for the first plates to be placed on the block, the COM of the plate will be on the right side of the corner, but as more and more plates are placed, the COM of the plate to be placed will shift to left side of the corner , and its weight would cause an anticlockwise (overturning) moment on the system of plates.
FInd both the clocwise and anticlockwise moments in terms of the number of plates and equate them to calcuate the maximum no of plates without failure.

thanks
