if the distance of a planet from the satr is increased 3 times its period of revolution will be...... if the distance of a planet from the satr is increased 3 times its period of revolution will be......
Kepler's third law of planetary motion states that the square of the orbital periodof a planet is proportional to the cube of the semi-major axisof its orbit. Now as the distance of the planet from the sun increases, the length of the semi-major axis of its orbit will also increase and therefore the period of revolution will also increase.
From Kepler’s Law, we know T2 proportional to r3 where T is the orbital time period and r is the length of semi major axis. So, according to your question, r changes to 3r , hence applying Kepler’s Law, the new time period will be 3√3T being the initital time period.
