Moment of inertia is the actually the inertial resistance for a body in rotation.
The Moment of Inertia can be found easily by integration of some bodies if you can easily see the distance r varying differential component of the solid dm and integrating
Moment of inertia of compound shapes can be found by adding the individual Moment of inertia of the constituent shape through a particular axis.
