Its magnitude at the Earth's surface ranges from 25 to 65 microteslas (0.25 to 0.65 gauss). Approximately, it is thefield of a magnetic dipole currently tilted at an angle of about 11 degrees with respect to Earth's rotational axis, as if there were a bar magnet placed at that angle at the center of the eqrth.

Dear student
HORIZONTAL COMPONENT of EARTH's MAGNETIC FIELD:  The component of magnetic field which is in horizontal direction .i.e., the component of the earth's magnetic field which is responsible for any magnetic effect in the horizontal direction is known as the horizontal component of earth's magnetic field.
If at some place the magnetic field of earth is B and its horizontal component is H and angle of inclination is 'x', then
H = B cos x
