illumination of the surface
E=F/A
but
F=I\omega =I(A/r^{2})
so,
E=I/r^{2}
This is known as inverse square law of illumination.
In case the light falls on the surface at an incident angle q, then the illumination of the surface is given by
E=(1/r^{2})cos\theta
This is known as Lambert’s cosine rule.
