For the same material, same weight and same length, hollow shaft can transmit more torque and can also resist more bending moment than solid one & also stress developed at any ponit/ fiber is relatively less.(As torque tramission capacity and bending moment resistance is directly proportional & stress developed at any ponit/fiber is inversely proportional to the Both SECTION MODULUS AND POLAR MODULUS)
