Hello, this is Sinjini Banerjee. My question is how would I prove that the sum of one velocity with the other having opposite direction and equal magnitude gives relative velocity.

If the velocity are opposite we can use newtons third law. In this case if one velocity is more than other then it will have possitive relative velocity if not so then it will negative.
