Gravitational force between a point mass m & M separated by a distance r is vector F. Now if a point mass 3m is placed next to m, what will be the (i) Force on M due to m. (ii) Total force on M. (iii) from your results state one feature of gravitational force.

Answer to question i) There is no impact on Force between M and m due to placement of third mass of 3m. This will continue to be same as F. This is one of the important feature of Gravitational force.
Regarding answer ii) As m and 3m are at viccinity, the Force experienced by M due to combination of m and 3m will be
F’ = G (4m)M/r^2=4F. That is force increased to four times.
