from a tower 156.8 m high , a ball is thrown with velocity 39.2 m/s making an angle 30 degree with the horizontal . calculate the distance from the foot of the tower where it strikes the ground and the time taken by it do so.

Hello Student,
to find the time taken to fall to the ground
-156.8=39.2sin30*t-5t^2
=>5t^2-39.2sin30*t-156.8=0
=>t=(39.2/2 ± root(19.6^2+20*156.8))/10
take the postive value of t
then t*vcos30 is the required answer.
