Explain why two parallel straight conductors carrying current in the opposite direction kept near each other in air repel? ?

Let the currents in the two conductors beandwhich are opposite in direction. The magnetic field due toon the second wire is, the direction is given by right hand thumb rule and will be inside the plane of the paper ifis upwards. Now the force on the second wire will be given according to the flemming’s left hand rule and is pointing away from the first wire. Similarly, the force on the first wir due to the magnetic field of the first wire will be away from the second wire. Hence, both the wires repel each other.
